The Club

As a result of an initiative by Mr N F Dovey, Stafford Artisans G.C. was formed at a meeting on Monday 10th November 1913. A 9-hole Course was constructed on Stafford Common and was opened by a match between the President and Chairman on Saturday 20th December 1913.

On 23rd March 1921 a Special General Meeting was informed that "Kingston Hill Fields" occupying some 40 acres was to be rented from Lord Shrewsbury for a new Course. The Club became Kingston Hill Golf Club and the new 9-hole Course was opened by a match between the President and Lord Shrewsbury's agent on Whit Monday 1921.

Kingston Hill was purchased by Effold Properties Ltd in 1966 but it was 1968 before it announced it was to be used for building. In 1969 Ingestre Park was suggested as a possible site for a new Golf Course, but it was February 1973 before outline planning permission for a Course was received. During this time the formation of the Company Kingston Hill Golf Club Ltd took place. An 18-hole Course, designed by Mr Jiggins of F W Hawtree & Co. was constructed and the Clubhouse, designed by Mr B Johnson, was built. The Club officially became Ingestre Park Golf Club on 1st January 1978 and the Clubhouse opened in February 1978. The Club had a 99-year lease on the land with an option to purchase. The purchase was completed on the 12th December 1991.
